Jeolikote outbreak: Health minister orders prompt action

Taking a serious view of the outbreak of waterborne diseases and even deaths due to contaminated drinking water in Jeolikote and nearby villages under Bhimtal block of Nainital district, the state Health minister Subodh Uniyal directed the Health department officers concerned to take effective action without the least delay.
He also directed the chief medical officer, Nainital to conduct a thorough survey in the area and collect information about the people affected. He stressed on health camps to be organised in affected areas and villages to provide all medical, testing, and treatment facilities to the affected individuals.
Further, he ordered all units of the department and those affiliated to the department to take action at the ground level to expedite the distribution of medicines and provide all possible medical and treatment facilities to the affected individuals.
He also asked the health department to coordinate with the district administration and Jal Sansthan, in particular, to ensure all necessary measures for effective control of such waterborne diseases.
