Joshi stresses on maintaining horticulture standards

Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi emphasised the importance of upholding good practices and quality within the horticulture sector to ensure farmers receive high-quality plants, which in turn can boost their income. He said during a surprise inspection of the Rajkiya Garden and Nursery in Sitarganj, located in the Udham Singh Nagar district, on Wednesday. His unexpected arrival caused quite a commotion among the employees.

During the visit, Joshi examined the attendance records and assessed both the attendance and performance of the staff. He conducted a thorough inspection of the various nurseries being developed in the garden and provided necessary guidance to the officials concerning plant production quality. Additionally, Joshi instructed officials to enhance plant production efficiency by implementing modern techniques to maximise benefits for the region’s farmers.

Meanwhile, the staff informed Joshi that they are developing improved varieties of Mango, Litchi and Guava, with around 3,000 plants of the L-49 Guava variety being cultivated.
