Uttarakhand police headquarters has ordered a detailed investigation into the Karnprayag clash that had occurred between Nihang pilgrims and local residents. Both cases, related to the clash, have been transferred from Chamoli district to Haridwar district. The investigations will now be conducted under the supervision of the Haridwar senior superintendent of police (SSP), Navneet Singh Bhullar.

According to the officials, privy to the details, an FIR has now been registered on the complaint of the father of an injured Sikh pilgrim. The case had been earlier lodged against unidentified persons, who had allegedly assaulted the pilgrim during the incident in Karnprayag on June 16.

The police have also ordered an inquiry into allegations made by various Sikh organisations regarding the conduct and behaviour of the local police personnel during the incident. The inquiry has been assigned to DIG Yashwant Singh, who has been asked to submit his report within two weeks.

The Karnprayag clash had sparked concerns among Sikh organisations, which demanded a fair investigation and action against all those responsible.
