Educationists, school administrators and representatives from the education sector from across the country, including Kashmir, Ladakh and Kanyakumari, have gathered in Ramnagar for National Independent School Association’s (NISA) Manthan 2.0. Over 400 delegates are participating in discussions on various aspects of the education system.
The deliberations focused on bridging the gap between KG and PG education, holistic development of children, employability-oriented education and basic facilities in schools, said the national president, NISA, Kulbhushan Sharma. “The schools run through trusts and societies and recognised by the government should not simply be referred to as private schools. Instead, they should be referred to as self-financed and recognised schools,” he said. He also called for uniform standards for government and self-financed schools and suggested consideration of a State School Standards Authority.
The conference also discussed the scope of the Right to Education (RTE) and the possibility of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in education.
Sharma suggested that a model could be considered under which government assistance is directly extended to a child or parent who chooses a recognised self-financed school.
The president, NISA, Tarai, Anurag K Singh urged educationists to use the platform to put forward new ideas, while Prasoon Srivastava of Ramnagar laid stress on effective implementation of government policies in education sector.
