PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
After a campaign against illegal Mazars, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to act against those who are engaged in cheating and defrauding people especially women in the garb of saints. He has asked the administration to initiate Operation Kalnemi against those who are exploiting the sentiments of the people and defrauding them while taking refuge in Sanatan Dharma.
The CM gave information about the Operation Kalnemi on social media. He said that in recent times many cases of people getting cheated by anti-social elements donning the attire of saints have come to light. Such elements are not only hurting the religious sentiments but are also disturbing the social harmony and Sanatan culture in the State, he said.
“In the Treta Yuga there was a demon named Kalnemi who used to mislead people in the guise of a Sadhu. There are many such Kalnemis active in the society today, committing crime in the garb of Sadhus. Our government is committed to safeguarding the public sentiments, dignity of Sanatan culture and maintaining social harmony,’’ he said.
Dhami warned that those engaged in hypocrisy will not be spared. Coming ahead of the Kanwad Yatra, the CM’s order to act against fake Sadhus shows that he is concerned about the safety of the people and image of the Sanatan Dharma.
