In a big push for the Assembly elections in Uttarakhand next year, the Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced to provide one lakh government jobs and 80 per cent job reservation for Uttarakhand’s youths if AAP comes to power in the state next year. Kejriwal stated this in Haldwani on his third visit to Uttarakhand in the past three months in view of the coming assembly elections. Unlike his past two visits in Dehradun, Kejriwal visited Haldwani this time to target the potential voters in the Kumaon region where he made six announcements concerning the unemployment issue. While addressing a Press conference on Sunday, Kejriwal said that if the party comes to power next year, it will provide jobs to every youth in the state. He stated that 80 per cent of the government jobs will be reserved for the state’s people in order to provide them maximum employment opportunities. He said that an unemployed youth from every family will receive Rs 5,000 unless he or she gets the job. He also announced that one lakh government jobs will also be generated in the first six months. He stated that since there are great job opportunities in the private sector, the party will launch a job portal too where job seekers and job providers can interact with each other. Kejriwal asserted that the party will also constitute a separate ministry to specifically tackle two prominent issues- migration and unemployment. This ministry will also work on providing employment opportunities to those who have migrated to other states for jobs but want to return, added the Delhi CM. He said that the successive governments here have destroyed the state’s condition in the past 21 years but the AAP will make it better in 21 months after winning the assembly elections. He said, “Migration has increased to such a level in Uttarakhand that it has become a ‘Palayan Pradesh’. We have researched and discussed all these issues and we found out that all the government needs here is a clear intention to work for the public.” The state has so much potential to generate employment opportunities alone in tourism due to rich flora and fauna. One can set up a biotech industry here but the government here lacks genuine intentions, he added.
On the question of how the party will fulfil all its mega promises as the state is not doing well financially, Kejriwal said that they are making announcements after proper planning and they will fulfil them with proper execution. He said that there is no lack of revenue in the state but a lack of proper intentions of the government. “AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Ajay Kothiyal has experience in providing jobs to youth and the public should give him a chance here. If the public gives votes to BJP they will get a new CM every month but if they choose Kothiyal, they will get development with the same CM they elected,” stated Kejriwal. After addressing the media persons, Kejriwal along with other party members also participated in AAP’s roadshow Tiranga Yatra too.
