Khel Mahakumbh to start on October 4

The Sports minister Rekha Arya informed that the Khel Mahakumbh will commence in the State on October 4. She shared this information during a virtual meeting with all the district magistrates of the State on Saturday. Arya said that the Khel Mahakumbh will begin at the Nyaya Panchayat level from October 4 to 31. Following this, block-level games will be held from October 25 to November 15 while district-level games will take place from November 16 to December 10. The State level games will then be held from December 15, she said.

Arya further stated that players between the ages of 14 to 23 years are eligible to participate. She instructed all district magistrates to ensure the preparation and participation of eligible players in the Khel Mahakumbh. She said that this is a great opportunity for players benefitting from the Mukhyamantri Udayiman and Mukhyamantri Protsahan Yojana. Further, students from all schools in the State, including those under the Uttarakhand board, can take part in the Khel Mahakumbh. Arya added that awards including medals, certificates and cash prizes will be given to the winning players. Apart from this, the DM of the district securing the highest number of medals will receive the chief minister’s trophy.

She further informed that players breaking national game records during the Khel Mahakumbh will be awarded a cash prize of Rs one lakh. She emphasised that this presents a golden opportunity for the players of the State to show their talent, adding that the players will be financially empowered by the Khel Mahakumbh and their sporting talent will also develop further.
