Kumaon Cup Tennis: Ramnagar wins; Haldwani finishes runner-up

In the final match of the Kumaon Cup Tennis Championship, Ramnagar beat Haldwani 2-1 to clinch the team championship title. The tournament was hosted in Ranikhet, featuring participation from teams representing various cities.

In the first match of the Team Championship Doubles, the pair of Mohit Singh Rathore and Manas Tiwari from the Ramnagar Tigers defeated Hem Kumar Pandey and Lalit Joshi in a one-sided contest with a score of 6-0. In the second match, Namit Tiwari and Prakhar Tiwari beat Haldwani’s Rajat Kumar Sati and Himanshu Tiwari 6-4.

In the third match, Haldwani’s Saharsh Pandey and Devendra Singh Bisht attempted a comeback by defeating the Ramnagar team 6-1; however, in the overall result, Ramnagar secured a 2-1 victory to claim the team championship title.

In the final of the tournament’s ’60 Plus Doubles’ category, the pair of Harish Prasad and Ajay Elhans won the title by defeating Rajendra Singh Mehta and Shankar Dutt Sati 6-0.

Lieutenant General (Retired) Mohan Chandra Bhandari attended the closing ceremony.
