Two people, including a teacher from Champayat, were killed and three others were seriously injured in a head- on collision between two cars in Nanakmatta under Udham Singh Nagar district on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The deceased teacher was identified as Sanjay Pandey (41). Police said that the accident occurred when he was returning home from Haldwani where he had gone along with another teacher to see a new car he was to buy. While Pandey died on the spot, the other teacher travelling with him namely Chandrasekhar Joshi narrowly escaped.
One of the occupants of the car which crashed into Pandey’s car was killed too while a few others were injured. The other deceased was identified as Deepant Singhal (27), resident of Kichha.
