KV students learn through toy-making

In accordance with the new National Education Policy, toy based teaching- learning pedagogy has been introduced where the children are being taught to learn the topic in various subjects with the help of the toys. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has been conducting online and offline training of principals , headmasters and teachers at all India level since the last academic year.
To promote toy based learning in primary classes, the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya II in Roorkee are making toys as per the directions of the NEP 2020. Toy making was assigned to the students during summer vacation to enhance their interest and creativity with the objective of skill development. Children of the primary section of the school are making toys especially from the waste material. The children are making toys using empty bottles, match boxes, old newspapers and clay among other materials. School principal Arvind Kumar, said that NEP 2020 lays special emphasis on skill development. In addition to theoretical education the children are to be engaged in some practical and creative work so that psychomotor skills are also developed in them. He stressed that by undertaking such the physical and mental growth of the children are balanced which results in a better, creative, eco-friendly human being.
