Laksar municipality starts week-long awareness campaign

The Laksar municipality conducted an awareness meeting campaign on Monday to raise awareness regarding Swachhata Abhiyan and raise awareness at the ward level to make the town garbage-free. The officials said that it is a one-week campaign which is being organised as per the orders of the Uttarakhand High Court and the State government.
The meeting was headed by the chairman of the municipality Ambreesh Garg and executive officer Chandrashekhar Sharma who raised awareness about sanitation related issues in the town among several people including local representatives of the town, sanitation workers and some local people among others. The officials informed that the EO also appointed nodal officers and assistant nodal officers in all 11 wards to promote positive sanitation practices.
They said that the municipality will conduct meetings on different sanitation-related themes like source segregation and usage of single-use plastic among others with different sections of the society like local traders during this one-week campaign. The sanitation will also take out rallies in association with educational institutions to raise among the general public. The campaign will be concluded on June 18, added officials.
