Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in the Lalkuan Nagar Panchayat on Saturday. The Nagar Panchayat chairman and ex-serviceman Surendra Singh Lotni hoisted the national flag on the occasion which also saw patriotic cultural performances by school children. MP Ajay Bhatt along with Lotni, inaugurated the two entry gates to the city along with tri-colour light on the occasion. The MP also held a meeting on local developmental issues.
Lotni raised issues including the transfer of the 33KV electricity line passing above the residential area, construction of Lalkuan bypass, traffic management and development works in the railway area. Bhatt said that he would write a letter to get the shifting of the 33 KV line included in the chief minister’s announcements while assuring necessary assistance in tackling other issues.
Development and beautification works amounting to Rs 25 crore in the Lalkuan railway area were also discussed in the meeting. The public representatives also talked about the benefits to the area from a green bypass and better road connectivity. Addressing the gathering later, Lotni said that the development of Lalkuan, beautification and extension of civic amenities are the priority of the Nagar Panchayat.
