The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed the submission of the report to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami by the committee formed to study and recommend changes in land laws. Stating that this is an important step towards fulfilling another promise made to the public, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt expressed hope that the State government will soon study the recommendations made by the committee and bring about necessary improvements in the State’s land laws in the interests of the public.
Bhatt said that the people of Uttarakhand had been demanding changes in the existing land laws in the interests of the State and its people. Considering this, Dhami had constituted a high-level committee for this purpose during his previous term as the chief minister. In its election manifesto, the BJP had promised the public that it would make necessary changes in the State’s land laws on the recommendations of a committee in the interests of the State and its people. Now that the committee has submitted its report to the government within the set time limit, it is hoped that after studying the report the government will fulfill yet another promise made to the public, said Bhatt. Bringing about necessary changes in the land laws will also help tackle the problem of migration and enable the people to derive full benefit of resources, added the BJP State president.
