PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE / Dehradun

The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed the State government’s action in the alleged theft case at Badrinath Temple and said that those responsible for the heinous crime must face strict punishment.

Addressing the media persons here on Wednesday, the BJP State spokesperson and MLA Vinod Chamoli said that no matter how influential a person might be, law would take its own course.  “The BJP government would not tolerate any attempt to undermine Sanatan faith, the sanctity of shrines and the trust of devotees,” he declared.

He further said that the personal assistant, who is suspected to be the prime accused, has been suspended, an FIR has been registered and an impartial investigation has been initiated. “On the directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a three-member committee, headed by the Garhwal divisional commissioner has been constituted to investigate the matter and submit its report within 15 days,” he said.

Targeting the Congress, Chamoli said that the State Congress president Ganesh Godiyal should take responsibility for making the accused a permanent employee during his tenure. “The Congress has thus no moral authority to question the BJP government’s functioning. We are committed to protecting the sanctity of shrines and ensuring transparent management of religious institutions,” he affirmed.
