Political bonhomie was visible between leaders as they paid visits and exchanged greetings of the festival on the occasion of Deepawali. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami set the ball rolling on Saturday as he visited the houses of former Maharashtra governor and former CM of the State Bhagat Singh Koshyari and former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat. Koshyari is known as the political guru of both Dhami and Trivendra Singh Rawat.
After taking blessings of the two senior leaders, CM Dhami met his predecessor Tirath Singh Rawat on Sunday. He also paid a visit to the residence of former CM major general (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri who has been ailing for some time. After inquiring about the health of Khanduri, the CM met the former CM Harish Rawat at the Defence Colony residence of the latter. Rawat had met with an accident on Saturday evening near Meerut when the vehicle he was traveling collided with a car.
Though Rawat escaped unhurt, his vehicle was damaged badly. In the meeting the two leaders exchanged pleasantries over a cup of tea and local Jaggery. The CM also went to the residence of former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on the eve of Deepawali. On Monday, the speaker Ritu Khanduri met the CM at his residence.
Cabinet ministers Dhan Singh Rawat, Saurabh Bahuguna and president of State unit of BJP Mahendra Bhatt and a large number of BJP leaders and MLAs met the CM at his residence to extend their Deepawali greetings. Former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat met former CM Harish Rawat on Deepawali. Many senior leaders of the Congress and BJP visited the residence of Harish Rawat to extend their greetings and to inquire about his health.
