In the residential area adjoining Rajaji national park in Haridwar, people are generally wary of elephants and at times of big cats. A boundary wall has also been built to prevent wild animals from entering the industrial area. Despite such measures the movement of wild animals has continued in the residential areas. On Sunday night, a leopard was seen roaming on Haridwar bypass road. The big cat’s movements were captured on camera by passers by. The leopard returned to the forest after strolling in the inhabited area. Though there has not been any major incident of human-wildlife conflict in this area the people are still wary of the movements of wild animals in inhabited areas.
