Usha Sree is a mother who misses her preadolescence days in her grandparent’s home. Remembering those days she creates the character, Leela.
Her book, Lil Leela’s Journey is a sweet and simply told tale of a little girl excited about the family trip on a train to her ancestral village for the first time. The author narrates how this one journey changes the perception of Leela, discovering the convention and true essence of childhood.
This book would help other children to learn that striving for new things can be perilous, but sometimes what we discover is worth appreciating for our whole life. The book will help others know that adventures are okay, alterations are perfect and are part of learning.
The author makes the reader nostalgic with characterisation of the bucolic part of the country and rhythmic phrases set to pictures that praise them perfectly and give wings to the imagination.
