Friday, 25 February 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

A day after interacting with the officials of Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) to discuss the proposed projects in the Paltan Bazaar area, local shopkeepers and businessmen have once again expressed their disappointment with the installation of electric boxes outside the shops. The secretary of Doon Udyog Vyapar Mandal (DUVM) Sunil Masson informed that DSCL officials have installed an electric box of 4 by 6 feet which, as per the officials, will be used to measure the electricity used in the marketplace. He said that the officials have installed only two such boxes so far which are very spacious and block the entrance of the shops and causing trouble to the customers. “The officials have installed one such box outside my shop which is already causing trouble. According to the officials, more such boxes will be installed in the whole Paltan Bazaar which will certainly cause more problems to shopkeepers as well as customers,” said a local shopkeeper Ajay. The shopkeepers said that they contacted the additional district magistrate (ADM) and additional executive officer of DSCL, KK Mishra about the issue who assured to discuss it in a meeting with shopkeepers and businessmen on Friday. The shopkeepers said that they appreciate that the district magistrate and chief executive officer (CEO) R Rajesh Kumar took action against the persons responsible for slow and delayed work under the smart city project but they expect the teams to at least talk to them once before installing or constructing such things that might severely affect the footfall in the market.
