The State government has appointed Naveen Chandra Lohani the vice chancellor of Uttarakhand Open University (UOU). He was selected from a panel presented by the search committee constituted under the University Regulations of 2009.
Currently, Lohani is serving as a senior professor and the head of the Hindi department at Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He will remain the VC for the next three years from the date he assumes charge or until further notice whichever comes first.
Notably, the extension of the tenure of the VC Omprakash Singh Negi beyond his retirement age had sparked a controversy.
