LS Speaker arrives in Corbett with family on 2-day visit

The Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived at the Corbett Tiger Reserve on a two-day visit along with his family on Tuesday. Among those who had received him were the MP Ajay Bhatt; Nainital district magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal; additional principal chief conservator of forests Vivek Pandey and director, Corbett Tiger Reserve, Saket Badola.
Bhatt termed the visit as a matter of pride for Nainital district, stating that the presence of the Speaker of the country’s highest democratic institution is significant for the region. He informed that the Speaker would hold a dialogue with grassroots-level representatives at the Administrative Training Institute in Nainital on April 29. “These local institutions form the foundation of the democratic structure from which bodies like the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Legislative Assemblies evolve. The objective of this meeting is to further strengthen democracy from the grassroots,” he added.
