Maharaj hails FAFAI for U’khand’s switch to aromatic crop farming

DEHRADUN: While addressing a workshop hosted by the Fragrance and Flavour Association of India (FAFAI) at the Centre of Aromatic Plants here on Friday, the State tourism and culture minister Satpal Maharaj said that it is time for Uttarakhand to switch to alternative farming, given the damage to conventional farming being done by wild attacks, erratic rain and climate change. He lauded the initiatives by FAFAI towards large scale farming of aromatic crops.  He expressed satisfaction over the fact that about 28,000 farmers are now engaged in cultivating aromatic crops over 9,000 hectares of land under 109 aroma clusters across the State, adding that this push towards alternative aromatic farming is helping the farmers earn more.
