Maharaj pulls up officials for delay in payment to Tehri dam displaced

Irrigation, Panchayati Raj and Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj pulled up officials for delay in payment of compensation to families displaced due to the Tehri dam. Stating that the nation is receiving electricity from the dam also due to the contribution of the affected people, he said that their problems should be resolved efficiently. The minister said this while chairing a meeting in Tehri on the third day of his Garhwal tour. In addition to unveiling founding stones for irrigation, roads and Panchayati Raj development schemes worth Rs 13.12 crore announced by the chief minister for Tehri district, he also did the online transfer of Rs 12.46 crore installment from the fifth State finance commission to 1,034 Gram Panchayats.

The minister also sat down with the local MLAs to discuss the issues of the Tehri dam affected people. He pulled up the officials concerned for delay in disbursement of the amount fixed by the government for rehabilitation of the dam affected families.

Ghansali MLA Shakti Lal Shah, Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyaya, Pratapnagar MLA Vikram Singh Negi, district Panchayat chairperson Sona Sajwan, other public representatives and officials were also present on the occasion.
