A major accident was averted as a truck, loaded with petrol and diesel, plunged into a gorge opposite a petrol pump in the Kempty Falls area in Mussoorie on Saturday morning. Panic erupted in the area after the truck’s fuel tanks ruptured, causing a massive oil leak. The police along with a fire department team rushed to the spot and their prompt action helped avert a major disaster.
According to the eye witnesses, the driver of the truck had gone inside the nearby petrol pump after parking his vehicle on a side of the road. The truck then rolled down the slope and the leakage had started as soon as the tanks had burst, they said.
