A man died as the car he was driving lost control and plunged into a gorge near Marchula on National Highway-309 on Saturday. The deceased was later identified as Subhash Bisht, a resident of Kashipur, who was working at Thalisain branch of Punjab National Bank. The accident occurred when he was returning home from Kashipur from his office.
Upon receiving information about the accident, police rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation with the assistance of locals. Police said that Bisht had died on the spot and the car had been found mangled. The body was later retrieved from the gorge and sent for post-mortem.
Locals said that several accidents have occurred at the same location in the past.
