Man kills wife in Vanbhoolpura over suspicion of illicit relationship

A man in Vanbhoolpura area of Haldwani in Nainital district brutally killed his wife as he suspected she was having an affair with another man. He hit her on the head with a stone after a dispute over suspected illicit relations late on Thursday. The incident created panic in the locality and neighbours informed the police after hearing the woman’s cries for help, the superintendent of police in Haldwani, Prakash Chandra said. He informed that the incident took place near the water tank in the Tera Bigha area, where the couple lived with their children. According to him, the accused Intazar had suspected his 35-year-old wife’s character for a long time, which led to frequent arguments between them. The argument escalated on Thursday and the accused picked up a stone lying outside the house and attacked his wife repeatedly on her head. Even after she fell to the ground, he reportedly continued hitting her. Locals rushed to the spot and managed to stop him before alerting the police. The SP said that the police and a forensic team reached the location soon after receiving the information. Locals helped shift the seriously injured woman to Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital, where doctors found multiple fractures in her skull. Due to her critical condition, she was referred to a private hospital, where she died during treatment. He said that the police took the accused husband into custody and registered a case of murder against him under relevant sections. Chandra said that initial investigation indicates domestic dispute and suspicion as the reason behind the attack. He added that forensic analysis is underway and officers are questioning the accused. Police are examining all aspects related to the incident and will take further action based on the inquiry, the SP added.
