A man was swept away by the strong current of a river in the Bagda Dhoran area of Sahastradhara in Dehradun on Saturday evening. The police received the incident report information at around 5:40 PM. The deceased was identified as Ankush Tusam, a resident of Shimla Gujran village under Bapoli police station in Panipat district of Haryana.
Soon after receiving the information, the police team from IT Park police post and a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and started a rescue operation to find the man. The police and SDRF personnel managed to pull him out of the river. The injured man was immediately taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya district hospital in Dehradun in a 108 ambulance by the police. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Police said that they have informed the family members of the deceased about the incident. The family members had reached the spot and the hospital after knowing about the incident.
Police have started the legal procedures. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of his death, police said.
