The Union Health and Family Welfare minister Mansukh Mandaviya conducted a surprise inspection of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Friday night. He met the patients and their attendants and inquired about the facilities. Mandaviya visited the emergency and the trauma centre of the institute.
The Union minister also visited the hostel of the institute and inspected arrangements in the mess. He had a cup of tea with the students over which he inquired about the facilities. Mandaviya asked the mess staff to encourage dishes prepared from the millet and avoid junk food.
On Saturday morning, the Union Minister held a meeting with the officials of AIIMS and gave them necessary guidelines with instructions regarding hospital arrangements and other schemes of the institute. The executive director of AIIMS, Dr Meenu Singh welcomed the union minister. She informed the minister about various schemes and activities being conducted by the institute.
The State’s Health minister of Uttarakhand Dhan Singh Rawat, dean of academics Dr Jaya Chaturvedi, medical superintendent Dr Sanjeev Kumar Mittal and other officers and faculty members were present.
