The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ visited the areas affected by heavy rainfall experienced during the past two days. He also instructed the officials of the district administration to provide relief to affected families soon. He visited the Chandrabani Choyla area for ground inspection which was severely affected by heavy rains. He also interacted with local residents and listened to their problems. The affected families told the mayor about the loss they had to bear due to damage caused by rain and appealed to him to provide them relief.
Hearing their issues, he immediately called the senior officials of the district administration on the spot and asked them to provide the families with all possible assistance. He asked them to carry out administrative relief works soon as per the directions of the State government. Besides this, he also directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to clean all drains of the area regularly to ensure a smooth flow of rainwater during rain.
He also directed the officials of the forest department to take measures to ensure water does not accumulate in the area leading to severe waterlogging. He asked the officials to take all preventive measures to ensure water does not accumulate in vulnerable areas again. He also directed measures to prevent waterlogging on roads in urban areas.
