Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal on Thursday inspected the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and reviewed the functioning of digital monitoring systems used to track civic services across the city. During the inspection, the mayor assessed the monitoring of door-to-door garbage collection vehicles through the ICCC portal. Officials said that a review of the system indicated that route coverage of some waste collection vehicles appeared comparatively low, prompting the mayor to seek clarification from the officials concerned.
Thapliyal also examined CCTV-based monitoring of municipal facilities from the command centre. He reviewed operations at the Kargi mechanised transfer station and the Sheeshambada waste processing plant and asked officials to provide updates on their functioning and operational efficiency. Officials present during the inspection said that the mayor expressed displeasure over certain shortcomings observed in the monitoring process. The mayor directed MCD officials to address the issues immediately and ensure that the ICCC system is used more effectively for real-time supervision of the operations.
Thapliyal said that the ICCC plays an important role in overseeing sanitation, waste transportation and other civic services across the city. He added that negligence in monitoring or technical operations would not be tolerated. He instructed departments to rectify deficiencies on priority and strengthen technical infrastructure to improve tracking of sanitation vehicles and operational facilities. Officials were also directed to carry out their duties with greater accountability as part of the civic body’s ongoing efforts to improve urban services and maintain cleanliness standards across Dehradun.
