The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) carried out an anti-encroachment drive in various municipal wards on Thursday and issued 85 challans, collecting Rs 46,900 in penalties.

The officials said that the operation targeted illegal hoardings, banners, posters, roadside vendors and unauthorised constructions on municipal land.

In ward number 14- Rispana, the officials cleared temporary encroachments and demolished a wall that had been constructed illegally on municipal property. Notices were also served to multiple violators during the drive.

The civic body said that the campaign is aimed at preventing unauthorised occupation of public land and ensuring smoother traffic movement in congested areas. The anti-encroachment action will continue in the coming days as part of routine civic enforcement measures.
