The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will set up its first Public Facilities Centre in Mothrowala to provide multiple civic services and address public complaints closer to residents. The initiative is being taken on the directions of Dehradun municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey. \
The MCD executive engineer Rajit Kotiyal said that the DPR for the centre has been prepared and the project is estimated to cost around Rs 52 lakh. After Mothrowala, similar centres will be established in Premnagar, Rajpur Road, Sahastradhara and other parts of the city after identifying suitable locations.
He said that the centre will provide services related to birth and death certificates, house tax, sanitation complaints, road cutting matters, dog-bite cases and other public grievances under one roof. Applications and complaints received at the centre will be registered and forwarded to the concerned department or official for disposal.
“Birth and death certificates, house tax and complaints will be handled at one place,” Kotiyal said. He said that around 15 to 20 employees would be required at each centre. Initially, MCD employees would be deployed, while staff may later be outsourced according to requirements.
The civic body plans to establish such centres in a phased manner at zonal offices and other suitable locations so that residents can access essential civic services closer to their homes, he added.
