MCD writes to SSP for police action against people obstructing dead animal collection

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has written to Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh, asking him to take action against anti-social elements who have begun obstructing the collection of dead animals carried out by the corporation.

The senior municipal veterinary officer Varun Aggarwal said that recently, a person involved in removing dead animals was assaulted in the Raipur police station area and his vehicle was damaged too. After this incident, the Progressive Dairy Farmers Association of Uttarakhand filed a complaint with the MCD regarding the incident.

Considering this, the corporation sent a letter to the SSP stating that MCD teams collect dead animals at different points across the city but recently, some unknown individuals have been interfering with this work in the Raipur area, causing disruptions and attempting to damage vehicles.

Aggarwal stated that the MCD workers have stopped collecting dead animals due to fear of such incidents which is causing huge inconvenience for the public. The association has requested MCD to seek police protection for the teams handling dead animal disposal to prevent such incidents. The corporation has asked the SSP to investigate the matter and take strict action against offenders.
