PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Haridwar

The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has instructed devotees to perform idol immersion on Ganesh Chaturthi only at two designated ghats as per National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines. The corporation has marked sites near Dhobi Ghat in Bairagi Camp and in front of Gate Number 1 at Pantdweep Parking for the immersion.

Haridwar municipal commissioner Nandan Kumar said that proper arrangements and security measures have been made at both sites. The corporation is running awareness campaigns to inform residents not to conduct idol immersion at other ghats of the Ganga. Kumar informed that MCH has installed banners and hoardings across the city to spread awareness. Social media campaigns are also being used to reach residents.

Haridwar mayor Kiran Jaisal also requested city residents to cooperate and perform idol immersion only at the designated places. She said that the selection of these sites has been made in line with the NGT guidelines. She added that MCH teams have been deployed at various ghats to guide people and ensure compliance with the NGT directions. She said that the corporation has made arrangements at Bairagi Camp and Pantdweep to manage the immersion process and maintain public safety.
