Athlete from Chamoli, Mansi Negi appointed Pauri’s asst coach

Mansi Negi, an athlete from Majothi, a small village in Chamoli district, has been appointed assistant coach of Pauri. A top performer in both academics and sports since childhood, she completed her intermediate studies in Dehradun. She received the Tilu Rauteli Award in 2022-23. She has been working hard to ensure that sports competitions are held at the high-altitude Ransi stadium in Pauri.

She has won over 17 medals to date. Her best performance so far in the 20 km walk race has been one hour 36 minutes. Recently, at the Rhine-Ruhr FISU World University Games 2025 held in Germany, Mansi won the bronze medal in the walk race team event.

She said she practises daily at the high-altitude Ransi ground to perform better in upcoming national and international competitions.

While confirming Mansi’s appointment, the district Sports officer-in-charge, Jaiveer Rawat stated that over 300 athletes from various states are currently using Ransi ground for practice and training. “This ground is ideal for practice and training for the youth of the hills,” he added.
