The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has started a large plantation drive to make Dehradun greener. The aim is to plant one lakh saplings across the city this year. The plantation work is being carried out on road dividers, parks, public places and vacant land.

On Monday, the MDDA vice-chairman Banshidhar Tiwari stopped on his way to office to inspect the plantation work on road dividers. He reviewed the quality of the saplings and the arrangements for their care. He also planted a sapling himself and said that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

During the inspection, Tiwari directed officials to ensure regular watering, maintenance and protection of every sapling being planted so that they grow into healthy trees.

He said the campaign is not only about planting trees but also about creating a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
