The anti-narcotics task force (ANTF) of Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) in a joint operation with Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a young medical intern of Mahant Indiresh Hospital with 96 grammes of smack from Dehradun railway station on Monday morning.

The accused is a young woman who allegedly used to bring smack from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly and smuggle it to Uttarkashi. She also used to sell smack to those in schools, colleges and other educational institutes in the nearby areas, claimed the senior superintendent of police of STF, Ayush Agrawal. He said that the STF’s ANTF got a tip about a woman possessing smack worth lakhs of rupees in Dehradun railway station on Monday morning.

A team immediately reached the spot along with GRP and caught the woman with 96 grammes of smack. The SSP said that the woman has confessed to smuggling and selling smack to make quick money.

According to her claims, she usually sells smack in Uttarkashi and nearby educational institutes with the help of her peddlers as their targets are usually school and college students, he said. The woman is also an intern in the nursing department of a prominent hospital in the city. Agrawal said that during the interrogation, the woman has given crucial information about peddlers who allegedly helped her in selling smack to school and college students in Uttarkashi and other areas.

The authorities are interrogating her and will possibly nab peddlers and her other accomplices in the near future, he added. The SSP also appealed to people to inform authorities to provide any information regarding illegal drugs or smugglers, especially those observed near schools and colleges by approaching the nearest police station or contacting STF at 01352656202 and 9412029536.
