Milk production increasing steadily in State: Bahuguna

The milk production in Uttarakhand is increasing steadily. The Dairy Development minister Saurabh Bahuguna informed the house on Friday in Vidhan Sabha that in the year 2015-16, the total milk production of the State was 1,656 thousand tonnes which has increased to 1,957.25 thousand tonnes.
Responding to a question by the Doiwala MLA Brijbhushan Gairola, the minister said that per capita milk availability in the State is 458 grammes. He said that the per day milk production in the State is 53.62 lakh kilogrammes while the demand is 50.34 lakh kg per day.
He said that there are 2,830 cooperative milk committees in the State. The minister added that the profit of the 11 cooperative milk committees in the State in 2022-23 was only Rs 50 lakh which has now increased to Rs 3.92 crore. Similarly the Milk Federation’s profit has increased from Rs 16 crore this year from Rs five crore in the year 2022-23.
