Question on natural farming troubles Agriculture minister again

The question on natural farming again troubled the Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi during the question hour in Vidhan Sabha on Friday. The question was suspended by the speaker Ritu Khanduri during the last session of Vidhan Sabha after the minister failed to give a satisfactory reply.

The question was again taken up during the question hour as a suspended question on Friday. In response to the question by Doiwala MLA, Brijbhushan Gairola, the minister said that to promote natural farming in the State, the National Mission on Natural Farming is being implemented in the State. Under the mission, 10,000 hectare area has been taken in 11 districts (Pauri, Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Almora and Udham Singh Nagar) of the State.

The minister faced difficulty when the Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh asked him to inform the house about total production of natural farming in the State. The minister informed that the Rabi crop was sown on 10,000 hectares and it has not been harvested yet. He said that the department has set up 337, Three K outlets in different parts of the State for marketing of the products of natural farming.
