The mining season 2026-27 will begin in Dehradun from October 1, with the district administration ordering strict action against illegal mining, transportation and storage. The administration has also directed officials to keep anti mining task forces active round the clock in mining areas.

The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan said that all government and court guidelines related to mining must be followed strictly.

The district mining officer said that mining is currently taking place at 30 of 69 allotted lots covering 659.81 hectares. The ongoing operations have generated Rs 31.26 crore in revenue so far.

The DM also stressed river dredging and channelisation in disaster prone areas. He directed sub-divisional magistrates to identify such areas and assess the quantity of minerals available there. Officials have also been asked to speed up the tender process for newly identified mining lots.

The administration will use CCTV cameras for regular monitoring in mining areas. Officials have also been asked to check the fitness of mining vehicles and verify the identity of drivers and workers.

The DM has also directed stone crusher operators to plant at least 1,000 saplings as part of environmental protection measures.
