The Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 (IMI) will be conducted in three phases -August 7-12, September 11-16 and October 9-14- covering all the districts of the State, informed the mission director, National Health Mission (NHM) Rohit Meena while addressing a media sensitisation workshop organised by NHM in Dehradun on Saturday. He further said that under this campaign, the dropout and left-out children up to the age of five years and the pregnant women would be given the missed dose. Besides, special stress is being laid on improving the coverage of Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccines, Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine (PCV) and Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) 3rd dose, among other vaccines, he said.
Meena informed that the Government of India is resolved to achieving complete eradication of Measles and Rubella in the country by 2023. “In line with the Centre’s resolution, the State is committed to achieve 95% coverage for both the doses of Measles and Rubella containing vaccines (MRCV). To achieve 95% coverage of MR1 and MR2 doses involving all the children (left out/drop out) aged from nine months to five years, special attention is being given to spread the ambit of surveillance and to cover with an additional dose the areas prone to MR outbreak. Necessary guidelines have been given regarding the MR eradication programme in the meetings being organised in the State with the involvement of the heads of departments and major international organizations like UNDP, JSI and World Health Organisation. We are confident that the coverage of the vaccination will be extended on a large scale,” he said.
The mission director further informed that in all the districts of the State, registration and vaccination will be conducted through the upcoming intensive mission Indradhanush 5.0 U-WIN. “Earlier, the digitisation in the form of U-WIN was started in two pilot districts- Haridwar and Pithoragarh- and now U-WIN portal is being extended to other districts as well. To achieve the target, training has been imparted at the district levels and along with this, cascade training has been given at the district and block levels by the master trainers of the districts,” he said.
“Moreover, the head count survey is being done by ASHA and Anganwadi workers at the district levels. A total of 807844 children have been surveyed till August 5 and a total of 22901 due children and 4724 due pregnant women have been surveyed till date. A total of 1212 pregnant women and 8924 children aged up to five years have been pre-registered in U-WIN till August 5 and the work related to pre-registration may be given to the ASHA and Anganwadi workers,” Meena said.
