Monsoon expected to reach U’khand in four days

Rains may soon bring relief from the heat and humidity with the State Meteorological Centre stating on Friday that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of Uttarakhand during the next three to four days. The centre also issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, intense to very intense spells of rain and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the State’s mountainous districts on Saturday. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the mountainous districts. Dry Weather is likely to occur in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development/light rain likely to occur towards afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Friday with 11.5 millimetres in Syunsi, eight millimetres in Kotdwar, 6.5 millimetres in Ranikhet and four millimetres in Sitlakhet. The maximum and minimum temperatures remained above normal in Dehradun and various other locations in the plains and mountainous regions of the State.
