Monsoon mock drill to be held at 7 locations today

The Dehradun district administration will conduct a mock drill at seven locations across the district on Thursday to check its preparedness for monsoon- related disasters. The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan said that the exercise will test how different government departments respond to emergencies such as floods, landslides, waterlogging, road blockages and rescue operations
The mock drill will be held in Doodhli, Gohri Mafi along the Suswa and Song rivers in Rishikesh, Karligarh, Lambidhar–Drikimadi Motor Road in Mussoorie, Chakrata–Mori Motor Road, Asan and Swarna riverbank areas in Jamnipur of Sahaspur, and Sahastradhara area of Dehradun. Rescue and relief teams will carry out operations based on different disaster situations.
DM also directed all officers and departments involved in disaster management to take part in the exercise with full preparation. He warned that negligence or absence during the mock drill will invite strict action under the Disaster Management Act.
The DM also appealed to the people not to panic or believe rumours, as the exercise is only a preparedness drill. He requested citizens to cooperate with the administration during the mock exercise.
