Monsoon session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha starts today

Wednesday, 21 AUGUST 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Monsoon session of the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha will commence on Wednesday at Bharadisain in Garisain, Chamoli district.

The session at the summer Capital Gairsain is being held after an interval of 17 months.  The last session at Bharadisain was held in March 2023 when the Pushkar Singh Dhami government passed the annual budget there.

The session is likely to be stormy with the opposition Congress deciding to corner the State government on the issues of law and order and callous handling of the disaster management and mitigation in the State. The ruling BJP however will make every possible effort to negate the attack from the opposition benches.

The meetings of the legislature parties of BJP and Congress were held in Bharadisain on Tuesday afternoon in which both the parties devised their strategies to be adopted during the house.

The meeting of the business advisory committee was also held in the Vidhan Sabha building on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by the Assembly speaker Ritu  Bhushan Khanduri and was attended by the Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Agarwal, leader of opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya and other senior leaders.

The Pushkar Singh Dhami government will table many important bills during the session. It will also table a supplementary budget of about Rs 5,000 crore in the house. On the opening day the house will pass a motion of condolence on the death of Kedarnath MLA Shaila Rani Rawat.

The speaker Khanduri reviewed the preparations for the assembly session at Bharadisain on Tuesday. Later interacting with media-persons the Speaker said that he had held meetings with the senior officers of administration and police in Dehradun recently in which orders for making all the arrangements were given. She expressed confidence that the session will be held smoothly.
