Chandrashekhar inaugurates 1st internet exchange in U’khand

On Monday, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology- Rajeev Chandrashekhar inaugurated the first internet exchange which was hosted in Dehradun in the state of Uttarakhand. This was a virtual ceremony which happened from Delhi. It was held by NIXI( National Internet Exchange of India )- a government non profit company providing improved internet services in India.
He spoke about how 6 years back in the year 2015, the PM laid the foundation of Digital India with the motive of bringing efficiency, ensuring corruption free governance, promoting entrepreneurship, creating jobs and
developing competencies in certain strategic areas of technology and this all could be done by increasing the size of digital economy.
He further spoke about how today, each and every paisa goes directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through
Direct Benefit Transfer hence, ensuring transparency and accountability. He added that post covid, the digital economy is growing at a fast pace with addition of many new jobs and Unicorns in the technology sector. The sector is able to attract a huge volume of investments.
Chandrashekhar spoke about the immense growth of digital technology during the pandemic period which had the country suffer the worst pandemic in the 21st century and how the economy emerged much stronger due to the investment made in the digital India programme. He promised that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will back the efforts of bringing digital revolution in Uttarakhand.
He also announced that the next Internet Exchange in Uttarakhand will be at Nainital District.
The event was attended by Sh. Bansi Dhar Bhagat, Cabinet Minister, Govt. Of Uttarakhand, Sh. Ganesh Joshi, Cabinet Minister, Govt. Of Uttarakhand, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau and Khajan Dass, Sunil Uniyal Gama, Mayor Dehradun and Madan Kaushik, BJP State President. Anil Baluni, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary (Meity)/Chairman NIXI, Ministry of Electronics and IT delivered the Keynote during the inauguration function.
