Multi-level parking structure to come up soon at district hospital

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun
To address the issue of insufficient parking space in the premises, a multi-level parking facility will soon be constructed at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital. Informing this, the medical superintendent, Dr V S Chauhan said that this initiative had recently been initiated by the district magistrate Savin Bansal. “Following this initiative, a team of engineers visited the hospital premises to assess locations for the new multi-level parking lot. With the engineers having inspected the site, decks have been cleared for the construction to commence,” he said.
He further said that the new facility is being designed to significantly increase parking capacity. “Whereas currently only 10 to 15 vehicles are accommodated at one time for instance, the new structure will provide space for 25 to 30 vehicles. Once constructed, this will resolve the long-continuing parking issues within the hospital premises,” he said.
To recall, the insufficient parking at the hospital has been highlighted by The Pioneer. The limited parking space leads to inadequate vehicle parking, impeding the movement of doctors and other staff besides blocking space for the hospital visitors who throng the facility in their hundreds daily. There are many instances of the annoyed patients and their near ones accompanying them arguing with the hospital’s parking contractors over the scarce parking spaces.
