Mussoorie route to be divided into sectors to manage weekend traffic

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal directed officials to divide the route from Asharodi to Mussoorie into different sectors to manage heavy traffic on weekends. During a crime review meeting on Tuesday, Dobal said that the main focus of the police is on crime control, law and order, Char Dham Yatra security and traffic management during the busy weekends of the tourist season.

Police said the Delhi-Dehradun expressway has increased the number of vehicles coming to the city, leading to extra pressure on roads. A detailed traffic plan will be prepared and implemented from the coming weekend. Drones will also be used for monitoring the traffic. Additional police force will be deployed in Mussoorie and new parking sites will be identified in Mussoorie and nearby areas. Dobal instructed all police stations in the district to run verification drives, identify people involved in criminal activities and take legal action. People roaming unnecessarily at night will also be questioned.

During the meeting, officers were told to take swift action in serious crimes and submit charge sheets in the court on time. Special teams will be formed to arrest wanted and reward-carrying criminals. Thye SSP also warned officers against keeping investigations pending without reason and said departmental action will be taken against those found negligent.
