National Bone & Joint week to be observed from today

Sanjay Orthopaedic, Spine and Maternity Centre will observe the Indian Orthopaedic Association, National Bone and Joint Week from August 1 to 7 with various activities. An awareness webinar, AIR interview, free BMD camp, free consultation, free polio surgery and free knee surgery will be held as part of the week.
Padma Shri awardee orthopaedic and spine surgeon Dr BKS Sanjay said that in last 40 years the type of orthopaedic patients has changed. Earlier polio and CP were the main causes of deformities and disabilities but nowadays the main culprits are road traffic accidents and degenerative arthritis. Factors like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, smoking and alcohol are exacerbating the process of degeneration.
Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Gaurav Sanjay emphasised that change in lifestyle and fast paced urban life are causing physical and mental diseases.Therefore, a balanced diet, regular daily physical exercises, adequate sleep are necessary for a healthy and a happy life.
