New traffic lights installed by traffic directorate
For the first time since its formation, the traffic directorate is procuring and installing traffic lights in various parts of the state. As soon as they were purchased some of them have also been installed in the state. These traffic lights will be under the care of the traffic directorate.
Earlier traffic lights were purchased and maintained by various departments but due to various complaints concerned over traffic lights problems were coming by the public the decision about having more traffic lights was taken.
According to the traffic directorate, 28 traffic lights have been purchased and 24 out of them have been fixed at various locations in Uttarakhand.
These are the hybrid traffic lights which are been operated by solar and electricity and also have the automatic traffic signal capability. These lights can also be operated manually and for any emergency vehicle, they have an option known as Hurrycall in which a green signal will be given to that vehicle for convenience.
Deputy inspector general and director of the traffic directorate, Kewal Khurana said that these traffic lights will help in the effective management of the traffic. These have been purchased keeping future requirements in mind. Meanwhile 200 CCTV cameras will also be installed in the mountainous districts. Eighty of these CCTV cameras have been procured and also installed at locations in Pauri and Rudraprayag districts.
