The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Friday organised a sapling distribution drive in the Paltan Bazaar area as part of its efforts to make the city cleaner, greener and more environment-friendly. During the programme, various useful and eco-friendly saplings were distributed among local shopkeepers, traders and residents, who were encouraged to adopt the plants and ensure their regular care.
The MCD appealed to residents to plant trees and plants around their homes, shops and commercial establishments to increase the city’s green cover. They were also urged to ensure regular watering and maintenance of the plants. The programme also carried the message of “Swachh Doon-Harit Doon” with citizens being encouraged to maintain cleanliness, avoid littering in public places and actively participate in environmental conservation.
MCD officials said that such saplings distribution and green initiatives would continue to promote greenery, reduce pollution and provide residents with a cleaner and healthier environment.
