NMC approves 50 more MBBS seats to SGRR medical college

 The National Medical Commission (NMC) has increased the number of seats in the MBBS course of the Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dehradun from existing 150 to 200.

With this approval the SGRRIMHS has become the medical college with the highest number of seats in the medical undergraduate course in the State. These seats will be included in the second round of state counselling to allot MBBS seats in the medical colleges of the State. 

The principal of the institute Dr Ashok Nayak said a team of the NMC recently visited the medical college and associated SGRR hospital. He said that the team evaluated several critical parameters including infrastructure, faculty strength, advanced laboratories, clinical material, patient flow for learning, research facilities, and library resources.

“This increase in MBBS seats is not only a landmark achievement for SGRR Medical College but also a boon for aspiring medical students of Uttarakhand, opening wider opportunities for medical education.

Moreover, it will significantly strengthen the healthcare services of the region. With excellent infrastructure, distinguished faculty, rich clinical exposure, and cutting-edge research opportunities, SGRR Medical College continues to scale new heights, setting benchmarks in medical education and healthcare,’’ he said.

 The SGRRIS was established in 2006 and the college offers 200 MBBS seats, 162 post graduate (PG) seats and 19 super specialisation ( MD/ MCH) seats.
